norwegian fjords

I probably haven't mentioned this before, but a friend of mine from Singapore, Sophie, is currently visiting me here in Norway. My ahma and uncle came to visit once when I was younger, but other than that, I have never served as a tour guide to a Singaporean here in Norway. Prior to her coming here, I thought of activities we could do, which would represent and present Norway in the best possible way, and I concluded that nature is probably what we are most famous for. So yesterday we took a "cruise" through a fjord called Lysefjorden. Personally I have never been, so it was a great pleasure for me as well, to experience one of Norway's most famous fjords up close.

Sometimes I feel as if I don't appreciate Norway enough, so it's great to do these sort of things once in a while to remind myself how beautiful this country really is.

just as she is

Despite falling sick on Christmas Eve and spending the morning feeling sorry for myself, I had a delightful celebration with mummy. We had a quiet dinner and I ate as much as my stomach could take in my somewhat reduced condition. Above are just a whole lot of pictures of what I got for Christmas and birthday from my friends and family.

Right now I'm watching the first Bridget Jones Diary film and developing a serious crush on Mark Darcy, as you do.

bad karma i guess

Just a quick post before I return to wallowing in self-pity. You see I managed to get sick, on Christmas Eve. Do note that I hardly ever get sick, so I must have done something horrible in a previous life or something to deserve such bad luck. Last night I went to bed feeling terribly nauseous, and ended up having to vomit two times during the night. Sigh.

Anyways, these pictures were taken when Roger and I were running our last Christmas errands. I realised it's been ages since I've put up a picture of him, so it decided it was about time. Right now he's celebrating with his extended family out in the country side. Hopefully he'll like the present I've gotten him!

winter favourites

(Jumper: Acne, skirt, Theory, coat: Lindex, scarf: Acne, lipstick: Chanel #58 "Audace", bracelet: Marc by Marc Jacobs, nail polish: Essie "Trophy wife").

This outfit pretty much includes all my 2012 winter staples: My wool scarf which I got as a early Christmas present from daddy (mentioned here), my massive wool coat, my fluffy grey jumper which I've literally been living in these past couple of months, and my new favourite black skirt. Unrelated to cold weather, but relevant nonetheless; my new gold bracelet which I got from mummy for my birthday.

On a more non-materliastic note, last night mummy and I baked some traditional Christmas treats, today we decorated our Christmas tree, and after this I'm going out shopping for Christmas presents. Ho ho ho everybody.

polyvore insp

Just some pictures from Polyvore, to serve as both inspiration and a personal reminder, as I've been dressing like a slob lately. But now that my winter holidays have officially begun (yippee ki yay), I really have no excuses anymore.

makeup tutorial

After much hassle, I finally figured out how I can film with my camera for more than 15 seconds. Not that I feel as if my makeup skills are of any interest to the world, but someone requested it on my Formspring ages ago. The look is just a natural everyday look, suitable for daytime.

I'm not going to lie, it was awkward both filming it, and having to look at my awkward face whilst editing. But regardless, I think I did a relatively OK job with the editing, after watching countless iMovie tutorials on Youtube. Unfortunately the quality is still not on point, but it's passable. I hope you like it, and possibly even learn something from it.

baby it's cold outside

Sometimes I think people from warmer climates can never really comprehend how freezing weather actually feels like. If I were to describe it, I guess it's sort of a biting sensation, as if the cold wind is literally biting your skin. Winter and snow is real cozy though, don't get me wrong, but to be honest my natural habitat is definitely indoors.

Lately it's been snowing like crazy, so yesterday Roger and I decided we wanted to build a snow lantern, followed by a somewhat wicked looking snowman. He looks kind of sad in the picture, but that's only because we gave him eyebrows, before that he looked downright mental.

My current wish list for 2012 as of today. I have spent the last couple of weeks hinting to Roger that I'm in desperate need of some new jeans, so if all goes well I'll let out a small shriek as I find this under the Christmas tree on Christmas eve. And I know it's difficult to tell them apart, but the the jeans above are two different pairs, I swear.

Merry Christmas everyone. My last exam is this upcoming Tuesday, and words cannot express how tired/excited I am.

021212 _MG_0580-copyFor foreigners I suppose Kjerag is somewhat of a foreign name, but it's a mountain overlooking Lysefjorden, located a couple of hours away from where I live. And as tragic as this may sound, I've actually never been to Kjerag nor the famous Pulpit Rock (mandatory destination for tourists and locals alike). So when I was asked to accompany my best friend and another girlfriend of ours, I realised it was about time.

One of the things that attracts people to Kjerag is Kjeragbolten, which is the rock located between the mountain crevice as seen in the pictures above. Some will venture out onto the rock itself, baring in mind that while standing on the rock, you're only a few centimetres away from falling down to certain death. And being the brave/impulsive/stupid girl I am, I realised that after hours of walking towards it, the least I could do was take one of those famous Kjeragbolten-pictures. It was such a strange feeling to stand out there, and I contemplated for a while if I was brave enough. But looking back it's a moment I can honestly say I'm strangely proud of, both standing on the rock itself and the 6 hour long trip behind it. Despite not being a nature person, at all (anyone who knows me can verify this). Experiencing it with my friends was also really special, and I can safely say that our little trip was quite the success.

I know I constantly whine about how boring it is here in Norway, but in all honesty nothing rivals Norwegian nature. It's frankly out of this world, and if you ever get the chance, I do urge you to experience at least a small part of it.
